Samsung’s success journey! R & D Expenses: $8.7 Bn for 2011, 10.6 Bn for 2012, $2.97 Bn for 2013 (1st qtr)

Success is based on approach. Not by looking at what competitor does but by setting up own standards & blueprints.

Google’s innovation of android OS in 2009 gave biggest hit to Samsung who could understand future of technology with launch of Galaxy devices & didn’t hesitate investing $8.7bn in 2011 just for R & D by employing 53,000 minds. Best example of blueprint, R & D, Customer centric approach, CSR. Already messed up Nokia, Sony, Motorola & LG.Now its now time to say Blackberry a fruit. Hope Apple survives…!

Its surprising but fact that android covers 75% of smartphone market by the end of 2012. None of symbian and java based application could provide such experience which Android has given. Its Linux based operating system. Begun with Gingerbread 2.3 version today it has Jelly bean 4.2 which is more user friendly and provides ultimate smartphone experience to user.

Success of Samsung’s galaxy is backed up by android OS. Also continuous technological innovation like start stay, smart pause, auto sensor, air gesture, smart scroll, screen mirroring, S beam, drama shots, dual camera shot, S translate, multiwindow. Understanding customer preferences, changing habits and expectations deriving from a smartphone. Keeping required interval while announcing launch, proper product, promotion, R & D, positioning, pricing resulted in boom and galaxy turned this into a history. Not only record volumes but profit also surged to $6.5 Bn in the first qtr of 2013.

What made Samsung so succeed in a very short spam of time? Was it just R & D or android? Well… I’d say R & D which includes everything beginning from competitor analysis, market, technological innovations, customer demands, changing need, etc. Well these figures are shocking when appears in front of us. Samsung alone invested $8.7 Bn in 2011, $10.6 in 2012 and $2.97 Bn for the 1st qtr of 2013. For the same qtr apple invested $1.12 Bn which is almost 3 times lesser than samsung. Even now Apple is able to maintain second position in smartphone market but dropped to 17% compared to 23% a year earlier.

A quote saying "life was good when blackberry, apple were just fruits. Guys soon you gonna enjoy blackberry as fruit as company is more concern keeping heart alive without body. Recent announcement by blackberry official says that BBM will be available for Iphone and Android users. Just because most of us use Whatsapp, viber, skype to exchange messages rather than pinging on BBM. Nope, we never found BBM as much friendly as Whatsapp. So now what’s the use of hi- fi and costly Blackberry devices. An announcement killed hope for BB-10 OS & upcoming models.

If series of product launch attracts the customer then it could have been Sony Xperia which would have enjoyed millions of customers. With regular unplanned launch of Xperia models they still expect customer to rush. Frankly speaking I don’t think that a sales man selling Xperia would be able to answer which model of Xperia has what functions. Xperia X10, Xperia X8, Xperia arc, Xperia Play Play, Xperia neo, Xperia active, Xperia arc S, Xperia ray, Xperia mini, Xperia pro, Xperia neo V, Xperia U, Xperia P, Xperia S, Xperia sola, Xperia HSPA, Xperia go, Xperia neo L, Xperia ion LTE, Xperia tipo dual, Xperia SL, Xperia tipo, Xperia acro S, Xperia J, Xperia T, Xperia TX, Xperia miro, Xperia ZL, Xperia Z, Xperia E dual, Xperia V, Xperia E and coming launches Xperia ZR, Xperia L, Xperia SP, Xperia Xperia, Xperia…. Enough? Uff really its better to choose an alphabetic series beginning from Xperia A,B,C & so on. Rather than putting illogical & confusing model no.

After huge failure of symbian, Nokia still follows same sequence of launching and positioning products. Their Asha as well as Lumia models have same positioning as Sony’s Xperia. Asha 200, Asha 300, Asha 302, Asha 311, Asha 303, Asha 201, Asha 202, Asha 309, Asha 308, Asha 305, Asha 205 dual, Asha 310, Asha 306 and coming launches Asha 210 dual and Asha 501 dual.

I wish a car could have passed by me so that I could try to remember such numbers. Let’s see Lumia 610, Lumia 710, Lumia 800, Lumia 900, Lumia 510, Lumia 920, Lumia 820, Lumia 620, Lumia 520, Lumia 720 and coming launch of Lumia 925. Some of Lumia models have got popularity due to their features & acceptance by the customers.

Back in 2011 it was HTC who was leading but after Samsung launches in 2011 and 2012 HTC smartphone market shrank by 36%. is able to maintain its fair position. HTC spend on marketing was not enough and it was got pushed by carriers like AT&T and T-mobile. HTC financial for 2012 reported 70% drop in profit. Tag line for HTC used to be Quietly Brilliant seems to be like Quietly In trouble.

Even Nokia posted net loss of €1.48 Bn in 2011 which widened to €3.78 Bn by the end of 2012. Sony has flooded lots of Xperia models in the market and could achieve $458 million profit in fiscal 2012-13.
This time commenting on LG, Motorola would be like asking, 80 years old man to participate and win a 100 meter race. Yeah! Now, there is Panasonic in this race with its very first launch of P51 smartphone, today. Aiming 8% market share by end of 2013? 8% would be a nice dream for Panasonic when Apple, a 3 decades old company and world’s second smartphone maker is striving to maintain 17% of its market globally. Let’s see its price, produce and positioning matters.

Even in this scenario some companies will determine Galaxy S4 and Apple’s Iphone 5 as competing factor where as these both giants are on their way to continuous R&D. Finally only OS left on board. IOS associated with Apple, Android with Galaxy + other rivals. Still would be a great watching, what a mobile can do…

In Life Either…

In Life Either: Questions are difficult or answers.

– When you lack something its question.

– When you lack something in yourself its answer.

We always lack something & keep on improving our life, work, status, relations or so… Definitely life is a learning process till the end. The more we learn, shorter we lack things in ourselves & then off course we find ourselves in comfort zone.
Still despite of all preparations we face tough time & situations where we lack answers & find ourselves in discomfort zone while having enough preparations.

Its my self realization. I don’t know how many of us would agree to this?

There are stages in life we find so uneasy to react, understand, implement. When we find that questions are difficult, we may find person/people to seek help from but when we find its answer which is difficult to give, we may not see a single person around us.
In between both conditions we learn more when we are on second side. While finding answers we learn life being in a very practical way. It helps us in understanding ourselves, our +vness, -veness, pros, cons, values, aims, likes, dislikes, comfort, discomfort, sorrow, happiness, people, process, life & so on……

It never goes as it is.
It goes as we take it but to make it happen we need to- THINK……….

Process Managers: Exploring Opportunities/ Expanding Business

Process Managers!

We all have been hearing about them in case manufacturing, service, BPO, Production, Supply chain management. They are responsible for efficiency & effective processes in whatever they are into. Their job is to Initially understand entire process then design process protocol flow which would ultimately leads to structured & systematic approach.

This concept is highly valued in enterprises having lot of process flow & business value involved. With global expansion & dynamic business environment the concept of process management has got prominent role.

Let’s talk about its implementation in MNC’s having production, cost analysis, overheads, business elements & market share. Process flow supported by managers who are responsible for identifying loopholes & suggesting best alternative to enterprises in terms of human resources, cost structure, business viability analysis in particular market which would be adding values to organization. Ultimate aims to be focused is business orientation, cost control, business unit profitability, human resource & planning.

The entire system consist of analyzing data, business modules, cost structure, profitability analysis, human resources planning & structured process protocols.

Definition would be more easier if organization can have defined process managers taking them on new high, new ways to explore the world of opportunities.

Warm Regards

You can grow where you develop, although growth & development both words are synonyms to each other. But here growth indicates achievement during career stage while you develop yourself with application of 360 degree approach at work. When you take more responsibilities at work, accept challenges and walk with courage to face situations. Remember, you are always assigned with pre-explained duties & task but despite of that if you are accompanied with enough knowledge you shall cross them. The only thing you shall take care of is “you shall not be part of others delegation resulting in way pointing you out as it is common phenomena to get blame for anything bad although when you are not concerned.

In process of employment employer chooses employee as well decision maker, who should have enough ability to judge and understand which helps in optimum decision & smooth flow of functions. Taking decisions are always liability for employees as they are always answerable and debatable over the decisions taken. But they are transparent till the time they reflect each one of decision taken to upper level. During all stuff they always get enough opportunity to learn and react wisely so that they get recognized by upper level people sitting top to them.

All is just matter of thought. You may assigned with a task you see small but its fact that every beginning is small.

Tech world & My Decision……..

Huge Tech world, Drastic and extreme development and decisions…..Is has become a huge matter of decision after I sold by blackberry Bold and I wanted to opt for new one..either Touch or Qwerty. But absence of perfect match as i found pros and cons with every device mainly because of integrated software system used to run application.

Some are know as business communicator, multimedia, entertaining device. With drastic change in look and design companies have adopted to gradual change in software like Android, Blackberry OS, Apple I-phone OS, windowsand Symbian+Anna OS. Google’s Android has been growing worldwide with its development and global presence resulting big cash cow Sony Ericsson & Motorola back to market as they have prepared cellphones based on Android which is already in practice by HTC and reason for Samsung Galaxy S & Galaxy S II success. Nokia on the other side has been through product relaunching and increase product lines and width extension C, X, N, E, Dual Sim to compete china made and small players has been resulting in confusion and has hampered its unique image and they made loss of 487m Million Euros in Q2 which made them force to take decision over their software to shift from Symbian+Anna to windows.

Can anyone aware of tech world.. think of buying Nokia today after their call for windows mobile launch? Still R & D about to about to update..decisions over to made. modules and platform to worked.. a long way to go Nokia…

Still software companies are struggling hard to attract companies. And upgrade of facebook, twitter, chat, mails, Maps has become prominent for them to get attract. Scenario has changed to many extent for software developer like Apple and Blackberry are able to compete with their innovated technology and R & D efforts. Other side Android is taking itself to next level with clubbing of many companies. And so called market dominant of Asia, Nokia has offered windows to make OS for its manufactured mobiles.

Still long way to watch………and my decision over it.. earlier it used to be purchase now it has become matter of CHOICE…It’s not like companies can’t innovate best with their sources.. they have forgotten their core value and following single way to get @next level.

Nokia still enjoy people’s faith and connect people…. It’s just how it connect matters… They could have develop their Nokia mail messaging..and Nokia chat view more to seem like new! instead of launching new models..

Anyways My next choice will be touch! 🙂 waiting for the best attraction company can make.. and choice can offer….

Either COMPETE or LEARN !!

Hello friends, Hope you all are doing extreme! Sorry for being away from the blog.
Writing after so long but hope you will promote this one.

Today, everyone talks, feels and thinks about it. We live in world of Competition, whether it’s school, college, company, society or country. We feel it from within and react also.
During my schooling I always found studies as major parameter to evaluate student in front of other classmates, schoolmates and teachers and in parents meetings too. In colleges things were up with some more parameters. As we enter in corporate world again there is a question. Who is best? Again it has some parameter like approach, skills, Education, Understanding, Thoughts, etc.

You talk about human, company or country, in none of case things can be alike exactly.
“Many of the things in the world are best and have done against impossibilities”

We Human-
@Sachin_rt, @chetan_bhagat, @Srbachchan, @Anupampkher, @mangeshkarlata, Ratan Tata, @Thevijaymallya, Sunil Bharti Mittal, A.R. Rehman. I think if these people were competing with others they would have never reached at where they are today and would never have been called best in whatever they are. Recently Sachin got recognition for people’s choice award in UK along with A.R. Rehman for music and Vijay Mallya was chosen as the ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’ while telecom giant Bharti-Airtel owner Sunil Mittal was named the ‘Philanthropist of the year’.

We must understand things and learn from surrounding. Everyone has something good within it to learn from. Dreaming of being Salman, Sharukh, Sachin is not worth. We can always learn from them but “COPY” & “PASTE” doesn’t apply here.

Create Companies-
Talking about company we always think of word “Brand”. Blackberry, I phone, TATA, Airtel, Raymond, Samsung, Sony, Toyota, BMW, etc ruling the market and are more recognized than other players in the same segment. There are many parameters for evaluation and survival of Companies like sale, revenue, market share, image and stakeholders etc. In absence of any may result in harm to Brand image. I think Toyota’s Qualis is the best example I can put forward. In year 2004, Toyota’s MD Mr. Toyoshima banned Qualis model for India and replaced it by larger Innova as it was often used as fleet car in India. Although Qualis was generating high amount of sale for Toyota but despite that company banned it and stood as a luxury car brand. This decision was astounding but what management felt matters. There and companies doing business but if they have their own vision then they are called as Organization otherwise business is not a big deal. Companies are known for their uniquely.
Today Blackberry, Nokia, Samsung, Dell, Tata are known for their uniquely which makes them best in practice and best among others.

Country- live in Nation
America, Japan, China. Don’t you feel something like advance, above when you hear these names?
Talk about technology, resources, infra, automation, employment, Per capita, GDP, Government. These nations are ahead because their Government, people, communities have understood what Best stands for? They have no one to compete with. Use of optimum resources with effectiveness made them Advanced. It’s not surprising about them they have got what they deserve.

It’s our choice either we follow and compete! Or learn and put forward our “BEST” as learning for others…….
